East African Playgrounds is a UK registered charity that aims to change the lives of children across East Africa by developing children’s learning opportunities and environments. We work alongside local communities to build simulating and exciting playgrounds, run arts and games programs as well as developing long term employment and training opportunities for young people across East Africa.

East African Playgrounds was set up around our volunteering projects. Every year over one hundred students have an amazing time working with our Ugandan building team and local communities across Uganda to build brand new fun, creative and vibrant playgrounds and set up arts and play projects.

Our playground build and arts and play projects run alongside each other for one month. Our volunteers get to see their fund raising and work in action as they see the school go from an empty canvas to a vibrant school that has a brand new high quality, safe, fun playground; designed and created by the children and community themselves and an enthusiastic art teacher who now has all the skills and knowledge to inspire creativity within the children. Our volunteers need no experience, just a tonne of enthusiasm and a desire for new experiences!
