AMAIDI International

Since 2006 AMAIDI enables social organizations worldwide to get access to professional and general volunteer resources to be able to meet their global challenges.

Therefore we inspire and mobilize individuals, companies and universities to engage themselves locally or online, either with their skills (pro bono) or their work force (hands-on).

Amaidi International links overseas and local volunteers with local communities they want to support via building capacity of the local organizations that serve these communities such as non-governmental organizations, schools, hospitals, care-homes and social enterprises.

Amaidi International also partners with responsible travel organizations in the countries we work in, so that tourists are offered a different way of getting in touch with the soul of a country. This also allows opportunities to the local communities visited, such as earning respect for their culture and income towards their livelihood.

Amaidi International acknowledges that money, spent in the right way according to the real needs of a local community, can be a boon for the urban and rural poor, enabling them to place the first steps on the road to a better life, away from poverty and its ugly faces such as chronical illness, un-employment, lack of access to quality education and political empowerment.

"Conservation through Research and Community Mobilisation"

The Maldives Whale Shark Research Programme (MWSRP) is a UK registered charity that exists to conduct whale shark research and foster community focused conservation initiatives throughout the Maldives and the Indian Ocean.

The MWSRP is based in the Maldives within the new South Ari Atoll Marine Protected Area. This is one of the few sites in the world where whale sharks aggregate year round. From their base the MWSRP work throughout the Maldives and recently have begun consultancy projects in Indonesia and Somaliland.

The MWSRP's grass-roots conservation initiatives provide education opportunities and support to local island communities; many of which traditionally hunted the whale shark for its liver oil. It is a goal of the MWSRP to become a Maldivian-run organisation.

We offer volunteers the opportunity to get involved with all aspects of our research at the forefront of whale shark research worldwide. Whether its measuring a shark, swimming alongside one or simply helping us to analyse the data, it all contributes to our work and furthers our understanding of the species. It is an unforgetable experience in the heart of the Maldives archipelago.

Founded in 1996 by marine ecologist Dr. Gregor Hodgson, the Reef Check Foundation is a California registered nonprofit dedicated to empowering people to save our reefs and oceans. Every year, Reef Check trains thousands of citizen scientist divers who volunteer to survey the health of coral reefs in over 90 countries and rocky reef ecosystems along the entire coast of California. The results are used to improve the management of these critically important natural resources. Reef Check programs provide ecologically sound and economically sustainable solutions to save reefs, by creating partnerships among community volunteers, government agencies, businesses, universities and other nonprofits. Sun sHADe Volunteers

Sun sHADe Volunteers (Maldives) provide opportunities for responsible and meaningful working holidays in one of the most beautiful places in the world: The Maldives!
Sun sHADe Volunteers is entirely led by Huvadhoo Aid (HAD), a non-governmental, youth organization located in Huvadhoo Atoll. Sun sHADe Volunteers exists to constantly develop various parts of the rural community in order to attain basic needs, protect the environment and make island life even more worth living. Our fields of action include education, community development, medical placements, sports placements, cultural exchange and environmental conservation – and all that with an international twist. We work with each volunteer to design a program that is best suited to their skill level and interest while filling a need in the community.
Fun and enjoyment are part of the experience of course! During their stay, volunteers have plenty of time to enjoy the island life and on the weekends they can enjoy snorkeling and exploring the amazing coral reefs, try surfing and wakeboarding, have private island picnics, go fishing and relax on the pristine beaches.
At the same time we want our volunteers to benefit from their stay on our island as well. Therefore we welcome them warmly and introduce them to our culture. They shall have the experience of their lifetime as our thanks for their engagement towards the community.

GoEco was created by experienced volunteers for people who are eager to travel and contribute to the community, wildlife, and environment they visit. Based on years of practice and in-depth field reports, GoEco presents you with a careful selection of excellent yet affordable volunteer and ecological-minded vacations.

Israel programs: GoEco has established dozens of ecological and humanitarian projects in cooperation with organizations both in the Arab and Jewish sectors in Israel. The organization offers an informed and vetted selection of projects to GoEco participants. Their target audience is the ecologically concerned and adventurous traveller who wants to explore a region first-hand and to get to know the local people, customs, and eco-system through a structured volunteer program.

International programs: GoEco arranges for hundreds of international volunteers each year to participate in ecological and humanitarian projects initiated by its partner organizations around the world. Through careful preliminary on-line interviewing, GoEco connects each volunteer with the most suitable project. GoEco selects the best available projects around the world, updates the availability and timing of projects, validates the quality and reputation of the project, and assists the volunteer in preparing for the trip.

The Maldives is renowned for its expensive, five star luxury tourist resorts, and often, very little is known of the normal lives of hardworking Maldivians in these very small and sometimes isolated communities. We are pleased to be able to offer a ‘Real Maldives’ experience to our volunteers. If you are looking for a life-changing experience, an opportunity to make a real and substantial difference to people’s lives, live among a small island community and integrate yourself into a unique culture, as well as enjoying the beauty and magic of an amazing country, then the Maldives is the place to be! Being the first volunteer company in the Maldives, we have had tremendous support from government, private, and individual organisations alike. We have built up trust and credibility from all sectors of the community, and we are all united in what we want to achieve. Having worked closely with local NGO’s and organisations, we have listened carefully to the needs of the island communities, and our projects reflect this understanding - we have a selection of placements to include teaching, medical, sports coaches, community development, or a combination of all these! A core set of values guides everything we do - at the forefront of that vision is the desire and commitment to make sure all volunteer projects are of an immense benefit, and sustainable to the small island communities we work closely with. For the volunteers, we endeavour to ensure the valuable time given by our volunteers provides a fulfilling and unforgettable experience that they’ll carry with them throughout their lives. We were delighted to launch our ‘Give back’ programme! Don’t forget, a proportion of a volunteer’s placement fee goes back into the community to support a well worth project – please take a look through our Volunteer Maldives ‘Gives Back’ page to see all these worthy causes that have created many many smiles!! PUT YOUR OWN LIFE IN PERSPECTIVE WHILE HELPING OTHERS!
